Oni Records was started in the summer of 2000 as a result of Urusei Yatsura leaving Che records and setting up their own label. Those who have paid attention will know that this is the second label that Urusei have set up, the first being Modern Independent Records which ceased existence when Urusei signed to Che.

So far the only releases planned are by Urusei Yatsura but we are planning on turning Oni into M.I.R. MrkII by releasing records from other bands too.
